Clean Water

Help keep our water clean. You can keep Pleasant Lake and Parker Pond just as clean and beautiful as we remember then by following these simple TIPS in your home.

Storm Water Runoff is the No. 1 Lake Pollutant

image

Fix run-off sites by planting vegetation or constructing swales. Storm water should be directed into the woods where it is naturally filtered into the ground, not in the lake.

Use Only Phosphate Free Housecleaners

...including household detergents and cleaning sprays. "Green Works" and "Seventh Generation" are affordable and effective cleaning products available at Wal-Mart and Hannaford respectively. Switching out all your house cleaners will drastically eliminate algae!

Lawn Fertilizers

Look for the "middle" number on your fertilizer package to read "0" meaning there is "zero" phosphorus contained within the fertilizer.

Clean Your Boat With Only Non-Toxic, Biodegradable Products

Borax, baking soda, and white vinegar do just as good a job!

Maintain Your Septic Tank

Be sure to have it cleaned every 3-5 years and remove trees and shrubs from your leach field.

Practice Non-Toxic Construction

...and renovation. Use low or zero chemical construction products such as "zero-voc" paint/stains for your home renovations. Be sure that waster from your construction site does not enter the lake.
